The Rotary Club of New Tecumseth (formerly the Rotary Club of Alliston) supports the youth of our community in a variety of ways.  We offer the Paul Harris Bursary to graduating high school students at both Banting Memorial High School and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.  In partnership with the Rotary Club of Ottawa, we send an outstanding student to our nation’s capital to learn about the workings of government as part of Adventures in Citizenship.  And each spring, the Rotary Youth Leadership Symposium offers a deserving teenager a chance to spend four days in a camp setting with two dozen other students learning how to be better leaders.

For the past two years, Rotary has been a sponsor of the Co-operative Young Leaders program led by the Ontario Co-operative Association.  Founded in 1967, it’s a week-long summer camp which empowers participants by equipping them with the change-making tools and skills they need to succeed in the world. Campers develop self-confidence, learn from inspiring guest speakers, and have a load of fun with traditional camp activities.

This year, at the end of July, we’re sending a very excited Emma Ray, who just completed Grade 11 at Banting.  Pictured alongside Emma are George Scott, Chair of Rotary’s Community Service Committee, with Carol Fleming, CYL Program Coordinator for the OCA.
