South Simcoe United FC is a vibrant, not-for-profit soccer club based in Alliston, ON, dedicated to fostering a love for the game among children and youth of all ages and abilities. With a mission to put smiles on kids' faces, the club offers a range of programs, including recreational and competitive leagues, running year-round in both winter and summer seasons. Serving communities across South Simcoe County—like Alliston, Beeton, Tottenham, and beyond—SSU emphasizes player development, encouraging less screen time and more active "green time" outdoors. With approximately 1,700 registered members, the club prides itself on being an affordable, fun, and inclusive hub for soccer enthusiasts, supported by a passionate team of coaches, referees, and volunteers.
A community focus of the Rotary Club of New Tecumseth (formerly the Rotary Club of Alliston) is support for youth. The club has agreed to a $1,000 sponsorship of the South Simcoe United FC girls team for 13-year-olds. Our logo will appear on their home jerseys. Financial contributions like this help cover operational costs such as equipment (balls, goals, and training gear), uniforms, and facility rentals for practices and games, which can be significant given the year-round nature of the soccer programs, including both winter and summer seasons. This support helps reduce the financial burden on families, keeping player fees affordable and ensuring inclusivity for kids across South Simcoe County communities like Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham.
In the accompanying photo, Community Service Committee chair George Scott hands the Rotary cheque to team member Melissa Machado, who had crafted an impassioned, well-written pitch for support.
